Burden of Proof World Premiere

BURDEN OF PROOF, is an immersive multimedia dance performance set in the near future. Inspired by a true story* it delves into the generational truama inflicted by the American Justice system and how traumatic experiences blur the line between memory and nightmare, told through the lens of the fictional Calinao immigrant family. Original sound score features text drawn from The Diary of Lenora Megabo Perez* and the writings of her son, Jason Magabo Perez, 2024 San Diego Poet Laureate.

*Pilipina nurses Leonora Megabo Perez and Filipina Narciso were convicted in the 1975 unexplained deaths at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan. They were incarcerated, until a judge ordered their release due to prosecutors “overwhelming prejudice” against the nurses.

AGOS Spring 2026 Recital Performance

KULARTS presents Agos Spring 2026 Dance Recital as a part of KULARTS’ Agos Youth Program, a youth dance performance of various Philippine folkloric dances with Rondalla music accompaniment contextualized through the nature of harvesting food throughout the Philippines.

Over the course of the spring season, Agos teaching artists and students addressed the history of colonization, immigration, cultural and racial equity issues impacting the Pilipino youth and their families. By intertwining art and political education, the students look holistically at ideas around healing and belonging, informed by traditional practice, but within the context of the Bay Area’s diasporic Pilipino community.
