Filipino American puppeteer Ramon Abad presents a new, work-in-progress show for children of all ages in collaboration with KULARTS. An ensemble of puppeteers will animate live on stage the wordless journey of a nameless immigrant puppet enduring a series of slapstick calamities.
Tubong to Living Ancestors explores the intersection of indigenous ritual and contemporary performance homage to diasporic Pilipino and Asian legacy artists and culture bearers. We honor [12] Pilipino and Asian American legacy artists and culture bearers with new works and restaged works from 1980’s & 1990’s. The Alleluia Panis Dance Theatre will perform to the music of John Calloway (music director) on percussion and flute, Francis Wong on sax, Chris Trinidad on bass, and on kulintang ensemble Conrad Benedicto and Jinji Saysa.
*Tubong is traditional celebration ritual, typically performed to honor elders and connect with ancestors.
