KULARTS with Brava presents the world premiere production of SF Legacy Artist Awardee, Alleluia Panis's Nursing These Wounds, a site-specific, immersive dance performance investigating the impact of colonization on Pilipinx health and caregiving through the lens of Pilipinx nurses’ history, whose experiences with Westernized medical education and subsequent migrations laid the groundwork for the continuing global export of Pilipino labor, shaped the United States medical field, and created a fissure between traditional forms of knowledge and our community’s conceptions of well-being.

Nurse Spotlight:
Ritchel Gazo

Ritchel Tan Gazo, RN, MS - is a mother, a performer, an executive director, and a registered nurse. 
 
Ritchel has been a Registered Nurse since 2004, where she graduated with her Bachelors of Nursing from San Francisco State University.  In 2008, Ritchel received her Masters in Nursing from UCSF as a Clinical Nurse Specialist: Neonatal.  
She has worked for Kaiser Permanente for the last 16 years.  Her first 11 years was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Kaiser San Francisco.  She was a Clinical Staff Nurse III, a relief charge nurse, precepted and trained new hires, a Unit Council member and a team resource/lead.  

Shortly after the passing of her father who was in hospice care due to pancreatic cancer, Ritchel moved into a new spectrum of her nursing career as an After Hours and Hospice Advice Nurse providing advice care to the geriatric population in Skilled Nursing Facilities and Home Hospice patients.  

Ritchel’s nursing career took another turn when she landed the Pediatric and Adult Home Health Nurse/Case Manager position, where she currently has been working the last two years.  She cares for premature infants discharged home from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, pediatric oncology and children with complex medical diagnosis.  When she is not caring for her pediatric population she is visiting and caring for adult home health patients. 

Ritchel's past experience includes employment at UCSF as a staff nurse II in their Intensive Care Nursery for 1 year, Mills Peninsula Hospital, Burlingame as a per diem staff nurse in the nursery and postpartum for 5 years, and Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa as a per diem nursery nurse.

Bay Area Folxs! We’re back to offer Filipino Rondalla in-person classes for beginners (ages 16 to adult) at an affordable rate!

Details:
⭐️ Rondalla instruments can be rented (except guitars) if you do not own.
⭐️ Prior music experience/knowledge preferred, but not required!
⭐️ Folxs would need to commit to Sunday afternoon weekly classes for 8-10 weeks in East Oakland, and prep for a recital/performance in December.
